Throughout this course I learned about important issues in education including the ways that American students have been privileged or marginalized through the system.

In this course I was allowed to really look back and see how much technology has improved over the years.  I was also able to see how much I have grown when it comes to using technology for my personal and professional uses.

​​Accommodating Differences in Literacy Learners TE 846​​​​​​​​​​​

Instructors: J. KNIGHT, T. GUSTAFSON, R. STANULIS

In this course I learned principles of instruction and remediation for reading and writing, as well as various assessment techniques.

E​​​​​ducating Students with Challenging Behavior CEP 832​​​​​​​​

Instructor: E. OKA 



This course allowed me to observe a student with very challenging behavior throughout the entire semester.  I was able not only to collect a wealth of resources to use with this specific child, but future students as well.

Methods of Writing Instruction TE 848

In this course I was able to chose a genre of poetry to explore.  I chose free verse and was able to write some very creative and much needed poems.  It was very nice because with work and school I often do not have the opportunity to write poetry which is something that I truly enjoy.

​​Literacy for the Young Child in the Home and School TE 851​​​​​​

Instructors: M. BLOCK, R. STANULIS

​

In this course I learned about the various areas of literacy development, how to choose, evaluate, and use appropriate text.  I was able to create a Power Point that can be used to explain many important facts on literacy to colleagues or my students' families.

 

​Creativity in Teaching and Learning CEP 818​

Instructors: K. KERELUIK, P. MISHRA

​

In this class I was required to find the creative side of me that I never knew existed.  I was pushed very hard to dig deeper into my being to find the "answers".

 

Issues and Strategies in Multicultural Education EAD 850​​​​

Instructor: R. SHAHJAHAN



This course required a final group project of analyzing an Affirmative Action policy from a university.  Not only did I learn a great deal about this and other policies, but I was also able to strengthen my skills to work with others. 

Developing Positive Attitudes Towards Learning CEP 802

Instructors L. BENSON, E. OKA



This class focused on the many possible causes for a lack of motivation to learn.   Throughout the course I was able to focus on a specific child in order to help increase her learning motivation.  I learned a great deal and will be able to utilize the information currently as well as in the future.

Capstone Seminar ED 870

This course allowed me to reflect on the courses I took to receive my Master's Degree.  My final project is this online portfolio.
